Preview-less Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Phoenix
It's still Christmas (family time) as I write so we're going to dispense with the usual game preview for the Phoenix game. They're one of the most popular and famous teams in the league anyway. You know who they are already. You know what they're likely to do to us. You know a win would rank among the better accomplishments of the decade for us. That's all you need, really.
So take a stab below at prognostication, in-game comments, post-game laments, and all kinds of wishful thinking.

Speaking strictly as a fan...
Friday's game was a "no-lose" affair. If we won our win streak continued, which is good. If we lost we learned a valuable lesson about coming to play every night and not taking practice (or other teams) for granted...also good. Tonight's game, on the other hand, seems like a "no-win" affair. If we lose, it was expected. Nothing will be gained that we didn't already know going in. If we win it won't be because we were the better team, it'll be because we got lucky or because Phoenix had a horrible effort (and I know that's been the opponents' standard line throughout the season but this time it'll be true). I suppose you could salvage some kind of "we can beat anyone if we play right" sentiment, but really that experiment won't be repeatable. If we had to turn around and play Phoenix again the next night we could play the exact same way and still get creamed by 30. They are just way better than we are right now.
So as a fan I'm looking at tonight's contest as strictly entertainment. I hope it's an exciting game. If we win it'll be really exciting. If I can't have excitement I'd settle for seeing some good basketball. I'm not going to jump out a window or leap to the moon based on the outcome of the game either way.

Good luck tonight!
I agree with Dave that you guys are in a no-win situation tonight but good luck anyway! My prediction: Phoenix 122, Portland 97

Then again, if you wear red and you sneeze, you'll get called for a foul in this quarter.

Sorry guys...
Good luck in your next game. The Blazers should have a semi-good year because they don't have to play the Suns every game.
